2009 UTAH SPORT SUMMIT
Perspectives on Long-Term Athlete Development and Sport for Life
Presented by the Utah Athletic Foundation
Friday, September 25, 2009
Hilton Salt Lake City Center
The goal of the Summit was to bring together representatives from the sport, recreation and health communities in Utah to begin a dialog on how we engage youth in sport and physical activity. At the summit participants heard presenters' stories and were introduced to long-term athlete development concepts that added to the discussion.
Introduction Document
The Utah Athletic Foundation has created an Introduction Document which outlines the goals and process to develop a Utah Model based on the principles of Long-Term Athlete Development. The document was handed out at the 2009 Utah Sport Summit and is available for download here.
Feedback and Survey
We are asking attendees for feedback and improvements they wish to see in Utah. We ask that people complete the survey by October 31st. We will then consolidate the information in a written document which will be known as the Utah Sport for Life Model. From this model we hope to advance partnerships within the community and implement positive changes in Utah’s sport and recreation systems.
